Freedom Isn’t a Flag Without a Pole

There’s a popular line that says, “When I get older, they’ll call me freedom, just like a waving flag.”

It’s poetic, inspiring — and incomplete; because Scripture tells a deeper truth: no one is ever truly “free” in the absolute sense.

Every human life is anchored somewhere. Paul teaches that we inevitably serve whatever we obey — either sin, which leads to ruin, or obedience to God, which leads to righteousness (Romans 6:16–18).

Even the waving flag in that song — proud, bright, dancing in the wind — isn’t free in the way we romanticize. It stands tall only because it’s fastened to a pole. Remove the anchor and it doesn’t become “more free.” It becomes a rag on the ground.

Liberty without an anchor is collapse.

In the same way, when people chase a life without God — no boundaries, no authority, no Lord — they don’t rise; they fall. Jesus teaches that anyone who keeps practicing sin becomes its servant (John 8:34). Sin promises movement, expression, self-rule — but it ultimately drags the soul downward.

But when a person is joined to Christ, bound to Him, shaped by His Word and His righteousness — that’s when life lifts. That’s when the wind catches. That’s when the soul stands upright and strong. Jesus declares that the freedom He gives is the only freedom that is real and lasting (John 8:36).

The question isn’t whether you have a Master.

The question is which Master keeps you standing.

— Romans 6:16–18

— John 8:34–36.

Bye!

How To Be Godly in Ungodly Times

Good morning everyone! It’s the first time I am writing a blog post, yippee!  There is a lot on my mind, so this blog is sort of a mind journal where you get the privilege of knowing what my ever busy mind thinks about. I have observed in recent times that it's getting increasingly difficult to be a Christian who abides diligently to the precepts of the bible, God’s word, or is it just me finding it difficult? I really hope it’s just me and not another more.   Good enough, my observation drove me into God’s word to search for answers. Has the world always been this bad? Did the bible envisage this amount of ungodliness? Definitely there must some people who did not succumb to the raging ungodliness of their time. These and many other thoughts have been buzzing in my head.    And as I searched scriptures I flipped to Romans 12, verse 2 of it read “Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that goo...

How to be Godly in Ungodly Times (The sequel)

Just like I promised here is the sequel. Good morning once again. Before I actually begin let me ask, did we work with the last charge of do not conform, renew your mind and prove? I am hoping we did. If you didn’t review the last message here and continue with this sequel. In my study of bible characters that lived in similar ungodly times like us, four friends  from the bible struck me the most. They are our models for today. And introducing them in christianese  they are- Bro. Daniel, Bro. Hananiah, Bro Mishael and Bro. Azariah  (giggling), oh yes these were their original names before their names where changed.  Daniel became Belteshazzar,  Hananiah became shadrach,  Mishael became Meshach and  Azariah became Abed-Nego.  These four friends were taken as captives from Israel to the Babylon. Babylon was known for paganism and immorality, yet somehow our models where singled out as people who did not conform to the Babylonian practices but prove...
